How did the idea come about to pair the SONY FX9 with the MAMIYA Sekor-C, and to mount large format lenses onto the GRAFLEX Graphic View?
I had been thinking about ways to achieve the field of view of our eyes. Looking into a large mirror, I wanted to replicate what the mirror’s frame sees from the perspective of my eyes. Of course, that’s not entirely possible.
At a cinematography expo, I saw someone using a large format camera connected to a video camera to achieve extreme tilt-shift movements. The image was heavily vignetted and very soft, so I didn’t initially realize how interesting it could be if set up differently.

Do you think there’s a simpler way to achieve a similar visual effect? Or was this setup essential to getting the exact look you wanted?
Yes. You could achieve a similar effect using a smaller, lighter camera with strong dynamic range and resolution. To reduce the size further, you could bring the camera closer to the ground glass, though this would introduce significant vignetting. For me, it was essential to keep the maximum...
